Rather than do this on a 'production' system I installed the server on a 
different (sid) system.  It shows the same symptoms as before.

So I started the debugging instructions as root.  Unfortunately it doesn't 
complete the key generation process (at the line above).  It emits all the dots 
and dashes and then just waits ... and waits and waits.  Seems to be waiting on 
gpg. No output files are opened in keydir. No errors reported.

If I run mandos-keygen manually I get the same affect.  It creates stuff in /tmp.

What do you suggest?
