Beautiful.  I'll get a sid system some time this evening and I'll try
it there and see if I can reproduce the problem.  If I can't, I'll
make a freshly installed sid machine and try it there.  If that also
works, I'll sadly have to report that you must have been dreaming.
Hopefully it won't come to that.
