<p>It works, I've used it for that purpose before. I had my
raspberry pi unlocked using it, it also had a server running on
it. <br>
</p>
<p>So long as my desktop and raspberry pi didn't go off at the same
time the other would be unlocked during boot.<br>

I don't know. But it should work if Raspbian uses the initramfs-tools
initramfs boot system.
